The charts give information on the proportion of supermarket-bought food and goods in three European countries between 1998 and 2008.
Overall, both food and goods bought from supermarkets observed an upward trend in all three European countries. It is also clear that country B had the highest share in both categories in 1998, while it was country A which was the highest in 2008.
The share of supermarket-bought food of country A was 10% in 1998, compared to around 24% of country B and roughly 6% of country C. In 2008, the figure for country A grew exponentially to 35%, while both country B and C reported minimal growth, climbing to approximately 24% and about 7% in the same order.
Starting 1998 at around 3%, the proportion of goods purchased in supermarkets of country A was almost triple the figure for country C, which was about 1%. Regarding country B, its statistic was significantly higher than the two remaining countries, which was roughly 25% in the same year. Starting 2008, both country A and C observed dramatic growth, soaring to just under 40% (country A) and around 16% (country C). As for country B, its figure underwent marginal change, rising to approximately 26% in 2008.
