In general, there are two basic parts of an LED, including an outer plastic containing batteries and contacts, and a slide switch that controls the flashlight.
The flashlight has a protective outer case housing two batteries and contacts. Two batteries are placed one after another and connected with a light in the top of those batteries. There are long metal switch contacts allowing flow of electricity from the bottom of the metal spring through a slide switch to the light.
There is a slide switch on the outside of the LED which controls the flow of electricity. Through this part, the electricity enables current to flow from the batteries to the light when the slide switch is turned on. In contrast, the connection between the metal contacts is broken when the LED is turned off.
