The bar chart illustrates the proportion of waste disposal by four methods in Netherlands, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom.
Overall, the Netherlands preferred recycling waste, while landfill was the most popular choice in Britain. Moreover, chemicals and waste burning were minimally used by surveyed countries.
In Netherlands, recycling accounted for nearly 68% of waste disposal, significantly higher than Italy, which recycled around 20% while Spain and U.K constituted around 12% in this manner. In terms of landfills, United Kingdom consisted of nearly 65%, followed by Italy and Spain, which both comprised roughly 40% of this method. In contrast, Netherlands had the lowest percentage of landfill waste among other countries, with only around 8%.
Regarding the remaining methods, Spain incinerated about 30% of waste, which tripled the 10% seen in Netherlands. Italy had a relatively high proportion of waste burning at around 22%, while only around 4% of waste were (was) disposed of in UK using this way. Lastly, there were a (no need) similar rates at about 18% of waste treated by chemicals in Italy, Spain and Britain, while Netherlands presented a lower percentage at 13% in this method.
