Overall, between 2008 and 2018, the proportion of petrol saw a decrease, while the figures for diesel, hybrid and fully electric increased. It is also noticeable that these trends are expected to continue to 2028, except for diesel and petrol.
In 2008, the percentage of petrol was the highest, accounting for 69%, followed by diesel at 30%. However, the figure for hybrid was the lowest, making up 1%. By 2018, fully electric vehicles appeared for the first time, representing the lowest figure at 4%. During this period, there was a large decrease in the percentage of petrol of 30%, from 69% to 39%, whereas the figure for diesel and hybrid increased quickly, representing 4% and 11%, respectively.
By 2028, the proportion of diesel and petrol vehicles is expected to have declined, taking up 27% and 11%, in turn. In contrast, in 2028, the percentage of hybrid is estimate to grow up quickly to 30% while the proportion of fully electric is also projected rise significantly to 32% and making up the largest.
