The illustration presents the amount of cargo exported in the UK from 1974 to 2002 via four distinct transportation options.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of outbound freights increased in all transport methods over the period. Road shipment experienced the most significant growth, while rail logistic gradually fluctuated throughout the years.
It is worth noting that road transfer rose steadily just under 80 million tonnes in 1975 to approxiamtely 100 million tonnes in 2000, marking the higest growth among the 4 transport modes. On the other hand, pipeland transport showed a significnat increase, starting at around 5 million tonnes in 1975 and reached a plateau and ending at 20 million tonnes by 2000, maintaining the lowest usage throughout the period.
Whereas, water and rail delivery similarly started at 40 million tonnes overtaking rail transport in nearly 1980 before it peaked to 60 million tonnes at the end of the peiod.
