Overall, the duration of watching TV maintained the top position over the period, whereas bowling was the least time-consuming activity. Moreover, hours spent on leisure activities such as going to pubs, watching television, and shopping showed an upward trend, while the reverse was observed for the rest of activities.
In 2002, the largest proportion of time (25 hours) had been used for watching TV, before reaching the maximum of just above 35 hours by 2007. Similarly, visiting discos and doing shopping initially started at around 5.5 hours each, and peaked at 15 and 10 hours respectively.
Turning to the activities with a downward trend, bowling remained below 5 hours, with minor fluctuations throughout the period. Teens spent approximately 10 hours on doing homework and going in for sports in 2002, but that gradually dropped to their respective figures of just over 5 and 0 hours. Eventually, watching DVDs was an outsider, since it started and ended at the same figure of around 10 hours, with a temporary rise to 15 hours in between.
