The bar chart illustrates how many male and female researchers studied on six various subjects, namely, linguistic, psychology, natural sciences, engineering, programming and mathematics in 2005.
Generally speaking, in 2005, there were more male research students than females. Despite the most popular subjects for these both genders was natural sciences, men preferred linguistics and women showed little interest in maths. Linguistics was the only subject that was favored by women than men.

There was a difference between the genders of approximately 25 in both linguistic and psychology with more females. Learning linguistics choosing by around 110 women and about 200 men take psychology.
The difference of about half was clear in engineering and programming where 150 men chose those both subjects. By contrast 200 men select mathematics which approximately 5fold that of women made up around 40.
