The bar chart below illustrates the amount of salt that was consumed by both men and women in various maturity categories from younger to elder age in a country of Europe in 2019.
Overall, it can be seen that the upward trend is the consumption of salt by Middle Aged such as 20-29, 30-39, and 40-49 for both genders. The total level of salt intake by men increased dramatically from younger to older age throughout the period, especially the middle age.
The youngest age for both men and women absorbed over 1000 milligrams per day while it is below 2300 mg from the recommendation. The amount of salt absorbed by men still increased significantly; however, the 30-39 age reached the value of 5000 mg which is over the limit for daily usage. Moreover, the amount of salt intake by men from 40-49 to 60-69 was at around 4000 mg per day, and it dropped approximately around 3800 mg per day.
For women, from 6-10 age, the amount of salt started to leap slightly over 2300 mg, and it soared rapidly to merely under 4000 mg at the age of 30-39. 4000 mg was the highest level before receding to merely 2300 mg per day which is suitable for salt intake as the recommendation at the age of 70+.
