As people aged, their salt consumption increased, with those in the age groups of 12 to 39 years showing significantly higher intake. Specifically, the amount of salt consumed rose to 5100 mg for men and 3800 mg for women in these age groups. However, the milligrams of salt per day decreased in the following age groups from 39 to 70 years, namely from 5100 to 3800 mg for men and from 3800 mg for women.
