The chart compares ten different countries in terms of production and consumption of rice in 2020.
Overall, Hungary and Philippines were the top producer and consumer of rice in 2020, whereas the contribution of remaining eight countries was less significant. Bangladesh was the sole nation whose consumption went beyond production.
To begin, Hungary was self-sufficient in rice, producing 540 ton, while the consumption being nearly equal to production, constituting 532 ton. Similarly, Philippines was the second most popular country for producing and consuming rice. The production and consumption of rice in Philippines accounted for 410 ton and 387 ton, respectively.
However, India, Qatar, Tunisia produced four times less rice as compared to Philippines. Bangladesh was the only nation whose consumption rate surpassed the production, accounting for 53 ton in terms of production and 58 tons in terms of consumption. Moreover, South Korea produced and consumed least amount of rice at 49 ton and 45 ton, respectively. The countries like Pakistan, Vietnam, and Zambia were responsible for producing and consuming nearly 50-ton rice.
