The bar chart illustrates where visitors to Australia traveled from, by area, between 1987 and 1997.
Overall, it is noticeable that the most proportion of migrants came from Europe in both years, while that of North/South America made up the least figures. Additionally, Northeast Asia saw the most significant increase over time.
Specifically, Europe initially had nearly 35%, whereas Oceania started at about 15%. While the former one underwent a 10% decline within a decade, the latter one increased its figures by approximately 10%. Middle East Africa experienced a similar rise of about 7%, from 15% to around 23% within 10 years.
Regarding other regions, North East Asia accounted for 15% in 1987, substantially growing to about 25% in 1997. On the other hand, the rest of Asia initially amounted to approximately 25% and fell by almost 15% in 1997, accounting for around 10%. When it comes to the region with the least proportion, North/South America had 5% in 1987, experiencing a negligible decrease in 1997.
