The given bar graph delineates the number of minutes spent by Australians on three types of phone calls (local, national & international, and mobiles) between 2001 and 2008. The data is measured in billions of minutes.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the rates for national & international and mobiles increased dramatically. Notably, the figure for local dominated, albeit with some trends.
To begin, the numbers for local stood at 72. By 2004, this figure underwent a marginal increase to 89, before rising gradually to peak (90) by the next year. However, this value experienced a dramatic decrease to its initial figure at the end of the period.
On the other hand, the figures for national & international and mobiles accounted for 38 and 2, respectively, in 2001. By 2005, the former grew significantly to 50; meanwhile, the latter climbed marginally to 9. The figure for national & international witnessed a notable rise, peaking at 61 in 2008, whereas the latter rose sharply to its peak, reaching 46.
