In 1960, agriculture was the largest sector, accounting for approximately 63% of GDP. Industry and services contributed around 15% and 17%, respectively. By 1970, agriculture decreased to 8%, resulting in roughly 55%, whereas the industry and services rose steadily to 21% and 23%, accordingly.
By 1990, the services sector increased significantly to 45% from less than 30%, while agriculture declined to 31%. Meanwhile, the industry remained stable at about 26%. In 2000, the services had become the leading sector, accounting for around 63% of GDP. The agriculture continued its decline to roughly 16%, and the industry saw moderate growth, reaching approximately 26%.
