Overall, it is clear that arrests of female accounted for a higher percentage in most offence
categories, specifically four out of seven. The most common types of arrests for male and female were Violence against the person and Theft and handing stolen goods, while Robbery and Burglary were the least frequent .
Looking at the highest figures, the largest percentage of female arrests was for Violence against the person that contained about 34%, it was slightly higher than male figures that was 31%. It is noticeable that arrest for Theft and handing stolen goods show a significant difference between the two genders. The proportion of females is higher than males again, it represents 32%, compared with males that was 20%. By contrast, in the Burglary category male arrests were almost 7%, more than double the female figure of roughly 3%.
In other categories the male arrests were higher than females arrests. For instance, in Other offences the males proportion was 15%, while females percentage was about 13%. Criminal damage and Drug offences were similar. The share of males was about 10% and 8%, and around 7% and 6% females. Finally both Robbery and Fraud and forgery accounted for the smallest proportion of arrests for both genders, with all figures remaining below 4%.
