From 1971 to 1991, the percentage of families did not use car declined from 48 percent to 30 percent, whereas in 1991 the figure for households which used 1 car increased dramatically and accounted for around 48 percent. The homes that owned 2 or more cars fluctuated between 16 percent and 29 percent.
In the last 10 years, the families with no car and 1 car decreased slightly. By contrast, the figure for 2 or more cars climbed rapidly but it was still lower than the other two.
