Overall, both sectors grew over the given period. In addition, the IT industry contributed a higher percentage to the economy than the Service sector in every year.
In 1992, the IT sector made up just over 6% of GDP, while Services stood at 4%. By 1994, both sectors grew, reaching over 8% and 6% respectively. In 1996, the share of IT saw a small decline to under 8%, whereas the Service sector continued to rise slightly to 7%.
In 1998 the IT sector experienced a rapid increase jumping to 12% and then reaching to it’s peak of nearly 15% in 2000. In contrast growth in the Service sector remained steady but slow, finishing at just over 8% at the end of the year of 2000.
