Overall, the data reveals a general upward trend in the prices of oranges and apples over the given period. While, price of apple remained relatively stable, cost of orange climbed significantly, and became more costly than the apple which was more expensive in the beginning.
In the first year, apples were relatively expensive than the oranges at approximately $4.8 and $4 relatively. Both fruits experienced a marginal growth in price by approximately 20 cents in 2011, before price of orange presented a significant increase by almost $0.6, and almost as same as the cost of apples ($5) in the following year.
In 2013, apples became cheaper than the oranges, as price of apples increased slightly by $0.1, whereas oranges showed $0.3 increase, reaching nearly $5.1 and $5.2 respectively. Oranges priced just under $6 per pound, in contrast, apples price rose by roughly $0.1 in 2014.
