The two bar charts illustrate the average house prices in England and London in 1995 and 2013 as well as the average house prices in other regions of England in 2013.
Overall, house prices in London were consistently higher than those in other regions. Overtime, both England and its capital saw significant increases in average housing costs, with London remaining the most expensive area and the North East being the least costly in 2013.
To begin with, the average cost in England was far lower than that in London, at around 140,000 pounds and 200,000 pounds in 1995 respectively. In 2013 the house prices in England increased considerably to 200,000 pounds,the cost of a house in London also shared the same trend exceeding 400,000 pounds and almost double the price of a house in England.
Moving to the second chart, while London had the most expensive house prices at 400,000 pounds, the opposite trend was true for North East where the house prices were around four times lower at about 100,000 pounds. Both South East, South West and North West had the similar pattern with house prices exceeding 200,000 pounds, 333,000 pounds, 270,000 pounds and 200,000 pounds respectively. The residents could find affordable house prices in the Midlands at only around 120,000 pounds.
