The bar chart illustrates the percentage of people in different age groups who used micro blogging, radio, and social networks to receive daily news in one country in 2011.
Overall, younger age groups mainly relied on social networks, while older people preferred radio. Micro blogging was the least popular source of news across all age groups.
Looking at the data in more detail, social networks were most commonly used by people aged 18–29 and 10–17, with both groups showing 80%. In contrast, only about 20% of those aged 65 and over used social networks. Meanwhile, micro blogging was more popular among people aged 18–29 (around 35%) and 30–49 (just below 50%), but it declined significantly in older age groups, with almost no usage among those aged 65+.
Radio was the most preferred source among the older population. Around 95% of people aged 50–64 and 30–49 used radio for news, followed closely by the 65+ group at about 85%. On the other hand, only about 40% of teenagers and less than 30% of those aged 18–29 listened to radio
news.
