The bar charts illustrate the changes in the percentage of males and females engaging in leisure activities over a decade (from 1996 to 2006), as well as the proportion of visits to various venues in 2006.
As shown, men and women exhibited distinct patterns in the amount of time spent on leisure activities over the years. Specifically, males consistently dedicated more time to leisure, although the proportion declined from around 90% in 1996 to 70% in 2006. In contrast, the figure for females showed a steady increase, rising from approximately 40% in 1996 to about 60% in 2006.
In addition, males were more likely to visit places such as pop centers, museums, and KTVs than females. For instance, 30% of men visited pop centers, which was twice the proportion of women. A similar pattern was observed in visits to museums and KTVs, with male attendance at 20% and 15%, compared to 17% and 13% for females, respectively.
Conversely, females showed a stronger preference for venues such as beaches and cinemas. Around 25% of women visited beaches, more than double the figure for males, while 30% went to cinemas, 5% higher than the corresponding percentage for males.
Overall, men were generally more engaged in leisure activities throughout the period. While they tended to prefer venues like pop centers, museums, and KTVs, women were more attracted to cinemas and beaches.
