The bar charts illustrate changes in the percentage of males and females enjoying leisure time over a decade (from 1996 to 2006), and the proportion of visits to various venues in 2006.
As shown, men and women showed distinct patterns in the proportion of time dedicated to entertainment over the years. Specifically, males tended more to spare time unwinding, although the proportion was decreasing from around 90% in 1996 to 70% in 2006. In contrast, the figure for females showed an upward trend, rising from approximately 40% in 1996 to roughly 60% in 2006.
In addition, males were more inclined to visiting places such as pop centers, museums, and KTVs, than females, with 30% of them choosing pop centers, twice the attendance of females. Similar patterns were observed in museums and KTVs, where males accounted for 20% and 15%, and females took up about 17% and 13%, respectively.
Conversely, females preferred spots like beaches and cinemas, with 25% of them opting for the former, more than doubled the figure for males, and 30% selecting the latter, 5% more than that for males.
Overall, males were more inclined to relishing their spare time than females throughout the period. While males favored places like pop centers, museums, and KTVs, females loved cinemas and beaches more.
