The given map illustrates a number of changes which took place in Frenton town over a 22-year period starting from 1990.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that Frenton town underwent a large number of significant changes. In addition, the most noticeable change over the course is that the trees were chopped down to build a technopark.
If we look at the west of the high street, the playing fields with trees were destructed, followed by the appearance of blocks and flats in 2012 in the north of the town. The west of the town witnessed the addition of a new restaurant at the expense of the bank. The period from 1990 to 2012 experienced the extension of the hospital to the east of a restaurant. Another striking development was that a technopark was constructed on the site of the old trees in the south-west corner of the town. Meanwhile, the library and school remained intact throughout the years to the south-east and the north of a new restaurant respectively.
Regarding the changes which took place in the east of the high street, in the south-east corner of the town, the supermarket was constructed at the position where the shops used to be. To the north of the shops, after a large number of houses was knocked down, the blocks of flats were built in its place. An additional development was the theatre which was replaced by the modern cinema to the west of supermarkets. During the period of 22 years observed, the considerable change was that the cafe and park were removed to give way for a hotel and golf course in the centre of the town. Besides, the flats were demolished to the north of the cinema.
