The two maps show how the South Wing of Walton Museum changed from 2008 to 2012. In general, the museum became bigger and had more rooms in 2012 compared to 2008.
In 2008, the entrance was in the middle on the left side. After entering, visitors could go to the reception, which was in the centre. On the right side of the building there was a reading room and a cloaks room. On the left side, there was a shop and a special exhibition room.
In 2012, many new things were added, and the position of some rooms changed. A new entrance hall was created more to the left, and a restaurant was built next to it. The special exhibition room stayed on the far left, but the reception and cloaks room were moved to the middle-left area.
The right side changed the most. The old reading room became a children’s play area, and a self-service room replaced the old cloaks room. There was also a bigger exhibition room added on the top right. The shop also moved to a different place inside the building.
Overall, the museum became more modern and had more facilities after the 2012 redevelopment.
