The bar chart compares the number of passengers who travelled by five types of transport in the UK in 1990 and 2000, including the total kilometers. Overall, the total distance saw a slight increase, although some modes decreased slowly. Among these transports, bus and rail remained the most popular ones in the UK.

The distance travelled by bike, motorbike and air was significantly lower than other transports. In 1990, the bike started with 6 billion kilometers (km), while the motorbike also travelled slightly more, approximately 7 billion km, both exhibited a slight reduce, with 5 and 6 billion km, respectively. In contrast, there was a slow increase in the figure for air from 5 to 7 billion km.

Many people prefer to travel by bus and rail in whole time. The former accounted for around 47 billion km in initial, with a slight increase of just 1 billion km in the end. The latter ended at the same figure, started at 45 billion km. As result of these changes, the total distance covered a growth from 110 billion km to 115 billion km.
