Overall, the total number of people who used any form of transport increased on 2000 than in 1990. Buses and rails were the most used means of travel, in both the years, while use of bicycles and motorbikes decreased.
The total distance travelled raised by about 10 billion kilometers from 1990 to 2000, and reached to 120 billion kilometers. Buses and rails saw the slight increase at 2000 of about 1 billion kilometers and were just below 50 billion kilometers each. Similarly, air route had about 20 billion kilometers, in 1990, which increased to about 23 billion kilometers.
However, as compared to 1990, use of bicycles and motorbikes decreased at 2000. Both of the method of transport recorded the decline of about 1 billion kilometers; and reached to 14 billion and 15 billion kilometers respectively.
