The bar chart and table illustrate causes of worldwide land degradation in three regions over the world. Overall, removing trees accounted for a remarkable proportion, while other causes comprised lower percentage. In the second chart, region 2 ranked a significant cause in terms of three causes, whereas the reverse was true for region 1.
Regarding cutting down trees, starting at 35%, followed by cattle 30%. However, growing crops followed closely by 28% in comparison to ‘other’ reasons just 7%.
In the second graph, region 1 represented the lowest percentages in all factors, with the exception of growing crops made up 3.3%. As a result, the total land degraded equaled to only 5% as expected. Looking at region 2, the figure constituted led the pack in terms of cutting trees and planting with the respective 9.8% and 7.7%. with farming animals at negligible 5.5%, becoming a considerable amount of total land degraded at 23%. As for region 3, removing trees and growing crops stood at 1.7% and 0 % respectively. Meanwhile, feeding animals ranked the highest percentage 11.3%.
