The bar chart illustrates when women in Australia had their first child born in 1966, 1986, and 2006. Looking from overall perspective, the proportion of women who giving birth under 24 age generally decreased over past 40 years, compared to the others which are increased and some of them fluctuated.
Firstly, it was clear that the age of women under 19 has significantly decreased from the beginning of the period, from 33% until 12% in 2006. Similarly, 19-24 women age constantly dropped from 62% in 1966 to approximately 28% in the end of the period.
Secondly, it can be seen on the histogram that women giving birth at age 34 to 39 slightly rose from 1966 to 2006 period. At first, it was evident that people in age 30-34 in 1966 born their first child accounted 12%, and increased until 45% in 2006. The same trend was also happening for people in age 34-29. Meanwhile, the fluctuated trend was happening in people who lived in age 25-30 and over 40.
