The four pie charts illustrate the age distribution of the populations of Yemen and Italy in the year 2000, along with projections for 2050. In 2000, approximately half of Yemen’s population (50.1%) belonged to the age group of 0-14 years. About 46.3% of the population was in the 15-59 age group, while the remaining 3.6% fell into the 60+ age category. In contrast, more than half of Italy’s population (61.6%) belonged to the 15-59 age group in the same year. The second-largest age group was 60+, accounting for 24.1%, with the remaining 14.3% in the 0-14 age range.
Looking ahead to 2050, projections for Yemen indicate that over half of the population (57.3%) will fall into the 15-59 age group, while around 37% will be in the 0-14 category, and the remaining 5.7% will be 60 years or older. In Italy, it is projected that 46.2% will be aged 15-59 and 42.3% will be 60 years and older, leaving 11.5% in the 0-14 age range.
Overall, from 2000 to 2050, the number of people in the 15-59 and 60+ age groups will increase in Yemen. During the same period in Italy, the population in the 60+ age group will also rise.
