The bar graph illustrates data about the percentage of generous people, in terms of their age group, who made donations in Canada between 2000 and 2015. Overall, the 35 to 49 age group was much more active than the others. Interestingly, the percentage of donors aged 18 to 49 was higher in 2000 compared to 2015, while the percentages for the rest of the age groups were lower in 2000 compared to 2015.
Regarding the top groups, in 2000, the proportion of the 35 to 49 years old age group began at under 40%, with significant dominance, and it decreased slightly by around 5% (under 35%) over the period. In contrast, the 50 to 64 age group began in 2000 with the second position at under 35% and reached a peak of under 40%, while the proportion of donors in the 65 and above age group increased slightly from less than a third to about 35% over the period.
As for younger adults, there was a rapid decline in the proportion of the 18 to 24 years old age group from a fifth to approximately one in ten, with the lowest proportion, between 2000 and 2015. Meanwhile, the 25 to 34 years old age group experienced a minimal dip from about 28% to about 25% between 2000 and 2015, following a similar trend.
