In 1995, 29.80% of total production in France was allocated to coal, which was the highest among all energies, which was followed closely by gas at 29.63%. Petro was also a major energy source, at 29.27%. Nuclear power and other sources were the lowest figures, providing 6.40% and 4.90% respectively.
In 2005, coal had risen slightly to 30.93%, remaining the highest figure in the chart. The percentage of gas witnessed a similar trend, rising slowly to 30.31%. In contrast, petrol experienced a dramatic decline, ending at 19.55%. Both nuclear power and other renewable sources increased noticeably, growing to 10.10% and 9.10% at the end of the period.
