The bar graph illustrates the worldwide sales performance of five leading cellphone manufacturers (Nokia, Samsung, LG, Apple, and ZTE) from 2009 to 2013. Overall, Samsung and Nokia emerged as the dominant players during this period, outperforming Apple, LG, and ZTE.
Notably, Samsung and Nokia dominated the market, both reaching a peak of nearly 450 million units sold. However, Samsung’s sales demonstrated a substantial and consistent increase from around 250 million in 2009 to almost half that figure in 2013, whereas Nokia’s sales experienced a loss of similar number. Despite this drop, Nokia’s sales remained higher than those of the other three companies.
Apple secured the third position in the market, with a consistent upward trend in sales, climbing from about 10 million to approximately 150 million in five years. In contrast, LG experienced minor annual declines during the same period, with sales decreasing from about 120 million to around 75 million. Similarly, ZTE witnessed modest annual growth, with its share of the market at roughly 50 million increasing insignificantly each year.
