Overall, the whole time frame is divided in 2 periods. In the first period, average house prices were lower than 1989 in New York, Tokyo, London and higher in Madrid and Frankfrut. In the second period, the figures for Tokyo and Madrid increased slightly and dramatically in New York and London and decreased gradually in Frankfrut.
From 1990 to 1995 the average house prices dropped 5% in New York and almost 7% in London compared to 1989. However, in the next period of 1996 to 2002, the average house prices jumped significantly at 5% in New York and around 12% in London.
Compared with 1989, in the first time span, the percentage change of average accomodation costs in Tokyo and Madrid was almost -7% and 2%. The numbers rose moderately in the next period and stood at -5% and 4%. In Frankfrut, the percentage declined slowly from around 3% to 1%.
