The chart illustrates result of survey taken in 1998-99 about the leisure time spent in a typical week for men and women with different types of employment status. It is evident that the free time enjoyed by men is more than that of women in majority cases.
Men with full-time job spent more leisure time in a week than women, which is 50 and 38 hours per week respectively. It is clear from chart that with part-time employment, males did not have any hours of leisure time where as females with the same status were having 40 hours of free time in a week.
Now, eye-catching results of survey came in Unemployed and retired status of males and females. In both of the status, men had 85 hours of leisure time and women had 75 hours of time per week. Which depicts that men had more free time than that women.
In the end, females as housewives had around 50 hours of free time per week and males were not there in the same housewives category.
