The graph illustrates the involvement of the mining industry in Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product, expressed in value and percentage, between 2006 and 2018.
Overall, the data shows that the value kept increasing throughout the period, while the percentage fluctuated, indicating that its growth rate did not match GDP value growth in general.
In terms of value, the mining sector contributed about IDR 200,000 billion in 2006, which kept rising consistently each year, surpassing IDR 500,000 billion in 2012-2014. Despite the slight decrease in 2015, the contribution eventually climbed once more and reached about IDR 650,000 billion in 2017 and got to the highest point recorded in 2018, which was over IDR 700,000 billion.
The percentage share was volatile. It began at 4.98% in 2006 and increased gradually to 6.01% in 2009. Even though it experienced a noticeable decline in 2010, the percentage reached its peak the following year at 6.14%. After this high point the rate kept falling constantly to 4.23% in 2016. But the share recovered and rose moderately the next three years, touching 4.98% in 2018, though still lower than the 2012 peak regardless of the much higher monetary output.
The mining industry’s contribution to Indonesia’s GDP grew strongly across the 13-year period. Although the value kept climbing throughout these years, the proportion faced modest fluctuation.
