Overall, an upward trend was observed in the Middle East, the Far East and Africa, while European nations declined over the given period.In the beginning of the period European nations were the highest.However, Africa was the lowest.

Meanwhile, European nations recorded the highest figures at just 30,000 applicants in 1999. In 2000, European nations declined from 30,000 to 25,000 in 2000.European nations also dropped from 25,000 to 20,000 in 2001.In contrast, in 2001, the figure for European nations fell noticeably and represented around 16,000 applicants.In 2003, European nations decreased considerably from 16,000 to 11,000.

The Middle east rose gradually from 10,000 to 20,000 students between 1999 and 2003.Interestingly, the Far East doubled from 15,000 to 30,000. Finally, Africa recorded the lowest figures at just 3,000 applicants across the whole period and climbed slightly from 3,000 to 6,000 in 2003.
