The bar chart illustrates how many elephants in Asia over the 7- year period starting from 1997. Overall, it is clear that the quantity of elephants in India was the highest, while that of Chinese elephants remained the lowest from 1997 to 2004. It is fundamental to note that the elephant population in Cambodia rose slightly while those of the others witnessed a minimal and significant decline over the given period frame.
It can be seen that the number of Indian elephants stood at about 9998 in 1997, which then decreased significantly to around 7500 in 2004. Even though having a decline, that figure still remained the highest over the period. Likewise, while the elephant population in Malaysia and Thailand both marked a dramatic drop from approximately 3000 to roughly 1000 and from about 3900 to around 1300 respectively ,those of Sri Lanka and Myanmar declined slightly from nearly 3000 to 2800 and from about 5400 to 4900 respectively over the given period frame.
Turning to the the rest of the chart, while there was a slight increase in the number of elephant in Cambodia from about 1600 to roughly 1700 , those of Vietnam, Laos and China decreased minimally from approximately 1000, 1006 and 800 respectively to nearly 995, 1000 and 500 respectively over the 7-year period.Additionally, that of China still remained the lowest .
