The bar chart provides information about the different pastime activities that boys and girls preferred.
From an overall perspective, the highest percentages of boys enjoyed sports and going to the park, while girls showed a greater preference for art and craft. In addition, the rate of both genders watching DVDs were identical.
Taking a closer look, the proportion of girls in art and craft activities was higher than that of boys, at 25% and around 7% respectively. When it comes to reading books and watching DVDs, the figures for girls surpassed those for boys by around 8 and 3 percentage points. However, the proportion of boys and girls playing computer games were the same, at 15% for each.
In terms of going to the park, the figure for boy participants was twice as high as that for girls, recording circa 25% and 12%, respectively. Likewise, there was a significant difference between boys and girls doing sport activities in their free time: more than 25% of males participated, compared with around 12% females.
