The chart illustrates daily number of car journeys made by men and women for a range of purposes in a European city.
Overall, men made more car trips than women for commuting to and from work, entertainment, and taking children to school, while women used cars more frequently for shopping, eating out, and meeting friends.
Starting with the activities where men made more trips, the difference between the two genders was small in entertainment, with 65 trips for men and 50 for women. A bigger gap can be seen in taking children to school and traveling to and from work, where men made 130 and 180 trips, compared to 90 and 130 for women
On the other hand, women made more trips in some areas. Women took 20 trips for eating out, while men made only 15. Meeting friends showed a similar pattern, with 25 trips for women and 20 for men. The largest difference was in shopping, where women made 150 trips compared to 140 for men.
