The bar graph illustrates the proportion of youths across three age groups participating in four different kinds of activities: watching tv, reading comics, playing video games, and riding bikes in 2009.
In overview, watching television was the most popular activity across all age groups, whereas playing video games was recorded as the lowest overall percentage, particularly among children. Additionally, the proportion of youths varied significantly by age, most notably in riding bikes and electronic gaming.
Watching TV attracted the highest audience, with nearly all children aged 5-8 years old participating (approximately 95%), while roughly 80% of both the 9-11 and 12-15 age groups did the same. In contrast, reading comics showed moderate consistency across all groups, maintaining a steady percentage of around 62% to 65% regardless of age.
The remaining activities such as playing video games appealed most to younger children, accounting for 60% of the 5-8 cohort and 58% of the 9-11 age group, but declining sharply to 40% for adolescents ages 12-15. On the other hand, riding bikes showed a different trend. Riding bikes was the preferred activity for teenagers, with approximately 80% of 12-15 year old riding bikes, compared to roughly 67% of the youngest group and 61% of those aged 9-11.
