The chart illustrates the proportion of five distinct North American lakes covered in ice over two 20 year periods.
Overall, the percentage of ice cover in some lakes increased, while in others has only slight changes across the years.
There was a steady decrease of proportion of ice cover in Superior lake, it dropped almost two times from approximately 26% to about 14%. The percentage of Huron is also slight decline from about 27% to about 21%.
In contrast, other lakes percentage of ice cover haven’t changed a lot. By 2002,Michigan lack percentage had declined from 14% to around 7%, and Erie lack percentage had dropped from 30%to about 27%. In addition, Ontaine lack percentage almost remained stable, and had changed to below 1%.
