The bar chart illustrates the proportion of icy layer covered over 5 major lakes ( superior,Michigan,Huron,Erie and Ontario) of North America for the last 4 decades from the year 1973 to 2012.
Overall, a massive frosted lake was Erie in both periods as opposed to the Ontario. In addition to that the thickness of ice all water bodies were higher in the earlier years than that of in the final years.
With regard to the first two decades from 1973 to 1992, Erie lake concealed by 30% of ice. Meanwhile Superior and Huron hid under around 26% and 27% icing respectively. By contrast Ontario was the least in ice layer occupancy accounted just above 5%. The icing over lake Michigan was below half of the frost present in the Erie lake( below 15%).
However, in 1993 – 2012, only Erie as well as Huron had considerable ice coverage when compared to others which figured approximately 28% and 21% each. The remaining lakes iced below 15% with a thin layer of nearly 4% in Ontario lake.
