The bar chart illustrate the proportion of Irish language speakers by province (Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster) in the Republic of Ireland (state) in five different years.
Overall, Connacht contributed the highest proportion of Irish speaker over the period. Whereas Leinster accounted for the lowest persentage. All province and state evidently increased from 1981 to 2002.
Connacht started with the highest persentage approximately 39% in both 1981 and 1986, while it ended at about 49%. The similar growth of proportion can also be seen in Munster and State, which State started at about 30% and ended at over 40%, followed by Munster started at 35% in 1981 and it ended at almost above 45%.
On the other hand, Leinster and Ulster had a slight declined in 1986 which totaled 27% and 29% respectively. in contrast, the following years of both Significantly incread by 2002 accounting for respectively 38% and 42%.
