The given bar chart compares the ratio of males and females holding higher education degrees in five countries namely Japan, United States, Switzerland, Britain, and Germany within the year 2001. Overall, Germany and Switzerland took the leading position in the percentage of males and females completing tertiary education. Notably, the proportion of higher education graduates in both genders was the lowest.
Looking first at the figures for females, it is evident that Germany was the country with the highest proportion of female graduating from universities or colleges, which stood at exactly 45%. Falling slightly behind was the United States, with only 5% lower than that of Germany. Meanwhile, the percentages of females holding a degree in Switzerland and Britain are 35% and 30% respectively. Of all the examined nations, Japan witnessed the lowest rate of female completing higher education, at only 25%.
Regarding the proportions of males having higher eduacation qualifications, Switzerland stood out with the highest recorded data with nearly half of the population graduating from higher education institutions are male in 2001. Interestingly, similar figures were reported in three nations namely the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, with 35% of males with higher education degrees. In the meantime, the number of Japan males holding higher education degrees accounted for 30%, again making it the country with the lowest percentage of males having qualifications from university or college.
All in all, it can be noticed that in almost all nations examined in 2001, more men than women completed their higher education with qualifications.
