The graph compares how many percent of the UK residents consumed five portions of fruit and vegetables a day from 2001 to 2008.
Overall, three groups saw an upward trend until 2006, followed by a small decline toward 2008. Furthermore, it is clear that women made up the largest percentage in all years, while the percentage of children was the least during the whole period in question.
Looking at the adults, in 2001 22% of women ate five portions a day, compared to 19% men. Both figures increased gradually in the next five years and reached their peaks in 2006 with 26% males and 33% females. After 2006, the percentages dropped slightly. By 2008, the figures finished at 31% for women and 25% for men.
Turning to the data for children, they started with the lowest percentage of all, at just 11% in 2001. Until 2006, the percentage increased and peaked in that period, reaching 20% . In 2007, the figure started decreasing to 19% and in the last year of the period, just 18% of children ate five portions daily.
