Overall, it is evident that over a decade, the broadcast of news from the various sources experienced some fluctuations throughout the trend. Search engines recorded the highest number of respondents compared to social media and owned media that had a decline with similar changes observed.
To start with, The percentage of respondents to news from search engines in the year 2011 was about 62% and had a slight decline in 2012 to approximately 58%. It then maintained a steady increase of 5% from 2013 to 2016 followed by some fluctuations throughout the period and had a dramatic fall at the end of the year with about 56% of share respondents.
However, owned media and social media maintained the same trend throughout the year with a significant decline in number of individuals that trust social media while owned media saw about 9% increase in percentage comparatively.
