Overall, while the total amount of waste which went through recycling in all countries increased steadily, in Germany it dropped in the last year. It was USA which presented the highest share of converting waste into reusable materials.
In 1990, European countries and USA had below 40% of reprocessing rubbish, with Germany being the lowest accounted for 28%, UK taking second place with just above 30% and USA with approximately 37%. In the following decade, each country increased their recycling practices by 10% showing similar pattern of change compared to previous one.
The 2015th year was significant as there were noticeable changes. Germany, for example, dropped to 33%, which widened the gap with USA, as it soared to 65%, while UK showed a slight rise to just under 60%.
