The given bar chart compares the world’s population in India, China, the USA and Japan between 1950 and 2000, and also provides the presumptions for 2050.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that India showed an upward trend, while China, the USA and Japan followed a downward trend.
In 1950, China dominant the world with its population of 26%, compared to the other three countries. The number of population was decreased, reaching around 24% by 2000, but still it was the highest percentage in that year. It is noticeable that China will continue to drop its population till 2050, and would reach a little under a fifth.
India started at 15% of its population. After that, the figure increased sharply, and it is predicted that India will take the lead by 2050 with its 21% of population.
When it comes to the population of the USA and Japan, both showed a decrease from 1950 to 2000. By 2050, the population of the USA will remain at the same level as 2000, but in Japan, it is expected that the percentage will decrease to a very small number approximately 3%.
