Focusing on increases first, shopping accounted for around 42% of Internet usage, which rose significantly to about 55% in 2009, making it the most popular activity. Similarly, the percentage of users in banking grew from approximately 35% to 45%, making it second most popular activity. Chatting also saw a slight increase from 25% to nearly 30% while playing video games went up from about 15% to 20% in 2009. Despite showing the lowest figures, watching TV also experienced a significant increase from roughly 10% to approximately 20%.
As for remaining activities, the proportion of people using the Internet for reading books fell from about 35% in 2007 to 30% in 2009. Similarly, learning online declined from 30% to just 25 % at the end of the period.
