The proportion of individuals accessing the Internet shopping and banking started at over 40% and around 35%, after which it saw a sharp growth to about 55% and 45% in 2009. Similarly, the figures for chatting and video games increased from approximately 25% to south of 30% and from 15% to exactly 20% in the final year.
10% of citizens in a UK city watched TV on the Internet in 2007, with a subsequent jump nearly two times higher 2 years later. Opposite changes, but to lesser extents, can be seen in the figures for books and learning, which were about 35% and 30% in the first year and a progressive decrease to 30% and 25% in the final year.
