The bar chart depicts the distribution of male and female university pupils who studied six art-related subjects in the UK in 2011. Overall, it can be seen that there were more female students than male students. In addition, it is clear that English language and literature had the greatest number of attendants from both groups.
English language and literature were the most popular subjects among males and females at around 225 and 250 students, respectively. Philosophy was the least interesting topic among males accounting for only 50, whereas it was History and Archeology for the other group at approximately 120 individuals.
Linguistics along with Art and design have a similar number of males at around 180 each. Likewise, there were around 240 females in both Linguistics and Communication and Media Stud. Additionally, there were 210 males in Communication and Media Stud and only about 90 in History and Archeology. There were just above 150 females studying Art and design and it was the only subject with more male attendants.
